AMEU Founded
The Moroccan Association of Endo-Urology (AMEU) is established at the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy of Casablanca. An apolitical, non-profit organisation with a scientific and social purpose, AMEU is founded around its three-pillar mission — Innovation, Exchange, and Education — and anchors itself at the Hôpital Universitaire International Cheikh Khalifa (HCK), linked to Université Mohammed VI des Sciences de la Santé (UM6SS). Founding patrons include the legendary Pr. Clément Claude Abbou, former Chief of Urology at Henri Mondor Hospital, Paris.
1st NACU Congress
AMEU launches the North African Congress of Urology (NACU) — its hallmark annual event. The congress quickly becomes a major fixture in the global urological calendar, attracting leading minds from Europe, Asia, and the Americas, and establishing Morocco as a continental hub for surgical education.
9th Congress: First Hybrid Format
During the COVID-19 pandemic, AMEU pioneers a hybrid congress format, integrating live Zoom participation with limited physical attendance at UM6SS, Casablanca. Scientific sessions focus on urinary lithiasis, sexual health, and regenerative medicine. A groundbreaking interfaith bioethical panel on circumcision convenes Pr. Rabii, an Islamic Faqih, and Rabbi Levi Banon — a landmark moment in medical ethics in the Maghreb.
10th Congress: Stem Cells & Oncology
The 10th International Congress marks a decisive shift toward advanced oncology and cellular therapeutics. Prof. Anthony Atala, the global pioneer of regenerative medicine, presents on stem cell applications in urology. Prof. David Khayat delivers landmark sessions on tobacco-driven urothelial carcinoma, and AMEU formally advocates for harm-reduction strategies to combat bladder cancer.
Pan-African Surgical Mission: Mauritania
An elite AMEU delegation led by Pr. Redouane Rabii conducts 15 complex urological and renal operations at the National Hospital of Nouakchott, Mauritania, working side-by-side with local teams led by Dr. Cheikhani Ould Jdoud. The mission exports advanced robotic surgery protocols and provides real-time capacity building for Mauritanian surgical staff.
13th Congress: First IBODE Robotic Nursing Workshop
The 13th International Congress in Casablanca introduces the first dedicated training programme for operating room nurses (IBODE) focused exclusively on robotic surgery — a world first in the region. Live Da Vinci robotic interventions are transmitted directly to the conference halls. Workshops on Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) in regenerative medicine and advanced uro-radiology are integrated into the curriculum.
14th Congress: Tangier — 14 Years, 2 Continents
AMEU relocates its annual congress to Tangier (AKDITAL Clinic) to expand regional accessibility. The 14th edition focuses on prostate and bladder cancers, ambulatory surgery, and preventive medicine. Dr. Alain Dana (Excellence Imagerie) presents rare pathologies including testicular sarcoidosis and urothelial carcinoma of the prostate. Live robotic demonstrations are performed by Prof. Adil Ouzzane, cementing AMEU’s status as Africa’s leading endo-urological institution.
